We believe that a skatepark should not just be concrete, but an inspiring environment that includes gardens, trees, picnicking and coming together to enjoy our world more fully. What's a garden: Using the existing resources, creating a beautiful space, transforming whats there-- to what can be. You are growing the potential. Your giving space for things grow.-- growing - giving space for the youth to reach their potential - participating in the natural rhythm. Giving space for our communities. Plant seeds help us grow. The seeds are all of the people involved, the environment, art, culture, music, skating.

From providing skate ramps & safe play spaces to creating urban gardens that can provide both food & great natural beauty, diverse populations will have myriad opportunities to connect with others, learn new skills, improve their local neighborhood and contribute to a stronger social fabric/ activism. We’re engaging our youth and bringing our communities together. Creating connection and possibility, helping each other grow --the young helping the experienced -- taking responsibility for the space. Claiming the space as a community attribute.

We’re redefining and creating the model for how skateparks are built.  We are a grassroots community engagement platform for skate park design.  We're creating skateparks designed from the skate community for the skate community.

The Brooklyn Skate Garden is an innovative world class unique model for how they are designed for how they can bring communities together.   Brooklyn is the perfect originator for this idea. It has a rich history in igniting this idea.  We are sharing space, multicultural, that is why nyc and brooklyn should set a president. Its cultural diversity for how community can be stimulated.

The BSG will add to Brooklyn’s rich culture and be an all inclusive environment for skaters of all ages & skill levels, from kids to adults, beginners to pros, all genders & abilities. Inclusive of different cultures, communities & physical abilities. 

it will be a space for multigenerational connections that promote community & diversity, foster sustainable ‘green’ parks & gardens, & provide safe opportunities to skate, visit, & steward our public spaces.

Recycling, gardening, environmental (events)

Bicycle - electronic events etc - dig deep into recycling ) finding partners etc to help organizing events ( find different categories of things to recycle)
Community gardens, including raised beds
Spaces suitable for outdoor learning.
Recycling bins, construction with recycled materials (as possible)
Water - solar - materials -- lighting - energy (2-3 sentences) taking responsibility of the space.

Why BSG now

Communities need spaces to connect across generations & cultures.

Skaters need safe spaces to learn & skate. Brooklyn needs more skateparks to meet the demand. 

We are a project of the Pablo Ramirez Foundation and a community advocacy group dreaming of creating a world class inclusive skate park / skate garden in Brooklyn. 

The mission of the Brooklyn skate garden is inspired by the late Pablo Ramirez @psplifff
Pablo was a professional skateboarder, artist and musician originally from Brooklyn, NYC. Pablo believed that love of community, respecting the earth and sharing love are how we can make the world a better place together.

The Brooklyn Skate Garden ethos is about creating an inclusive skatepark and garden for future generations, where skateboarders of all ages can fully express themselves in a safe and supportive atmosphere. We are committed to creating the most innovative, sustainable skatepark and garden in the heart of Brooklyn for the entire world to be inspired by and for future generations to enjoy.

LIFÉ IS BÉÂÜTIFÜL

One of our inspirations for dreaming of creating the Brooklyn Skate Garden came from Pablo’s prolific poem, DONT FRET. The words in his poem evoke our philosophy  for creating a skatepark and garden that is not just a place to skate, but a place to reflect, create, learn, and wonder about the world. Pablo’s approach to living  life are here in these words. There are amazing lessons to be learned in every line.
